AN OMORI SCHOOL AND A YANAGAWA SCHOOL FUCHI-KASHIRA
Mid Edo period (18th Century)
The shakudo nanako base metal depicting flowering peony in shakudo and silver takazogan, details in gilt, signed Hidemasa and kao; and another depicting tigers playing in shakudo, shibuichi takazogan and gilt, signed Yanagawa Naomitsu and kao, both with a wood box (4)

Lot Essay

Omori Hidemasa was a nephew of Shigemitsu and a student of Yokoya Somin. He later became independent. It is said that he was related to the Nara school but his style is that of Yokoya.

Yanagawa Naomitsu studied under Yanagawa Naomasa and became the third master. He was also a tea master from the Enshu school of tea and became nyudo. He made frequent visits to the daimyo of Soma and Hoshina.
