Lot Essay

This bottle stand is inspired by designs for 'voiders' published by Messrs Mayhew and Ince in The Universal System of Household Furniture, 1762, pl.XV, and is closely related to that from the collection of the late Samuel Messer Esq., sold in these Rooms 5 December 1991, lot 102.
