The inlay in the early 19th century 'Old French style' relates to that of an amboyna sofa table with brass inlay supplied for Claremont, Surrey about 1816. See: C. Musgrave, Regency Furniture, London, p. 63. A related pedestal and plinth pattern appears on a brass-inlaid table sold in these Rooms, 13 July 1989, lot 187.
