Kikuchi Tsunekatsu was a student of Iwanaga Naokatsu. Tsunekatsu lived in Kanda and was the most accomplished artist of the family, carving takabori similar to his master.

The fourth stroke of the character "Tsune" is not the katakana "ma" as is usual, he preferred the katakana character "ko".
