The wood base decorated with a Namban jin in oboro gin takabori and suemon and gold iroe, signed Hamano Shunchi and kao; and an iron Tanaka Seiju kozuka, the migaki-ji plate decorated with an ikebana of chanoyu with a poem board in takabori and iroe zogan, the poem in kebori, signed Ryuso [Tanaka Seiju], both with a wood box (2)

Lot Essay

Among the metalwork schools of the Edo period, the Hamano ranks second for the sheer number of workers that used its name. Many artists worked both under the auspices of Nara and Hamano using the characters "zui" (yuki) haru and masa in their name.

Ryuso was a go used by Tanaka Seiju.

fuyukomori kono
suisenya fuyuno tomo
