Lot Essay

Possibly inspired by a design already adopted on Chinese export porcelain, cf. the cup and saucer in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cope Bequest, no. 643-1903. A large portion of the service was in the Ole Olsen collection, including five dishes of this size.
