Possibly inspired by a design already adopted on Chinese export porcelain, cf. the cup and saucer in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cope Bequest, no. 643-1903. A large portion of the service was in the Ole Olsen collection, including five dishes of this size. See Rainer Rückert, op. cit., no. 733 and Erika Pauls Eisenbeiss, German Porcelain of the 18th century, vol. I, pp. 498 & 499
