The shakudo nanako plate depicting two squirrels playing around a stack of oban, the reverse covered with cat-scratched gilt, inscribed Goto and kao in shibuichi takazogan and gilt, slight dents, with a wood box

The Goto masters not only made sword fittings but they were also responsible for the bakufu Mint. Goto Renjo produced Genroku oban in 1695.
