A NASHIJI LACQUER EFU NO TACHI
Mei: Hiromasa, 16th Century, the mounts late 17th/early 18th Century
The blade honzukuri, iorimune slight koshi-zori, with ko-gissaki, forging pattern ko-itame, tempered edge notare and o-notare of nioi, with maru-boshi, tang suriage, with three holes, 18 13/16in. (47.8cm.); encased in a gold nashiji efu no tachi saya decorated with yotsume-yui mon in gold foil and gold hiramakie, the shark skin tsuka fitted with gilt tachi kanagu en suite comprising kogane, kashira, koiguchi, semegane, kara [Chinese]-tsuba, ashi kanamono and kojiri, all decorated in usunikubori, with menuki of three yotsume-yui mon and mekugi, decorated with tawara byo and tsuyu saki-o [cord]
