A PAIR OF DERBY CANDLESTICKS modelled as Cupid, scantily draped and with a garland of flowers across one shoulder, kneeling before flowering trees, one pointing to a heart hidden in the branches, the other drawing an arrow from among the branches, a quiver of arrows at their sides, with a single white and gilt candle-nozzle and wax-pan to one side, the pierced scroll-moulded bases enriched in turquoise and with gilding (both nozzles later replacements and one with restored wax-pan, damages and repairs to flowering foliage, one with chip to base), Wm. Duesbury & Co., circa 1770
