The present poetic image of a Muse leaning against a pedestal, her head loosely fallen to one side in meditation, relates to the spontaneous and 'impressionistically' worked statuettes created by Giuseppe Grandi (1843-1891) such as his Marshal Ney and his Pleaureuse.
