BOLLINGER, R.D. R.D. (récemment dégorgé) is actually a registered trademark belonging to Bollinger, although the concept is now widespread. The wine itself is, like the Grande Année, a blend of 65 Pinot Noir and 35 Chardonnay, and the distinctive style results from the wine being left in the bottles "sur pointes", and under natural cork rather than crown cap, for a considerable period of time prior to disgorgement. The result is superb: mature champagne, with a distintive yeasty, autolytic character which is, above all, fresh and lively Lying in Hertfordshire Stored in ideal cellarage since shipment following disgorgement
