Decorated in gold, red and brown takemakie, with a cockatoo on a gold lacquer floor-standing perch, the reverse in two colours of gold, with a parrot on a brown lacquer hanging perch, its tail and wing feathers a mixture of gold and silver, the red lacquer ground of the inro sparsely sprinkled with silver filings, black lacquer interiors, fundame rims

Lot Essay

From the feeling of the interior, this inro appears to date from around the middle of the 18th century, which would make it among the earliest to bear this signature
