A PRUSSIAN SPONTOON, the leaf-shaped blade cusped and pierced at the base, etched on each face with the monogram of King Frederick William I of Prussia, over a scroll inscribed 'Regiment. v....', and, at the bottom, 'Potsdam', tapering moulded socket of circular section with straight crossbar with vertically recurved tips, two straps (replaced), and white-painted wooden staff with moulded iron shoe, circa 1713-40; another, the small partizan-shaped head etched with scrollwork, coats-of-arms and inscriptions (illegible), tapering moulded socket, and later wooden staff (rust pitted throughout), 17th Century; and another, similar, the wide base with kidney- and heart-shaped piercings, retaining traces of gold-damascened decoration including trophies of cannon, tapering moulded socket, two straps, and later wooden staff, 17th Century
