A GERMAN PARTIZAN, the triangular blade of flattened diamond section etched on both faces with hatched scrollwork, two cannon, a device over an inscription in German script with, on one face, the figure of a standard-bearer in early 17th Century costume over 'Soli Deo', and on the other a trophy of cannon and 'Gloria', tapering moulded socket of hexagonal section, and wooden staff (shoe missing) with original silk tassel; another, similar (etching rubbed), on later wooden staff; and another, the broad triangular blade (point reshaped) of flattened hexagonal section etched throughout with fine scrollwork framing panels and roundels containing rosettes and Latin inscriptions (all very rubbed), tapering moulded octagonal socket, two straps, and upper portion only of later wooden staff, all early 17th Century
