A COMPOSITE RIDING SWORD with broad double-edged blade with triple fuller over nearly its entire length on each side stamped 'Soli Deo Glorio Andria Ferara', recessed ricasso struck with a mark on each face, iron hilt comprising guard of narrow bars, arms (one repaired) linked by a stirrup-shaped side-ring with upturned finger-guard on one side and diagonal forked loop-guard on the other, vertically recurved quillons, one forming the knuckle-guard, ovoidal pommel, and spirally fluted wire-bound wooden grip, early 17th Century, probably German
