A PERSIAN CHISELLED AND DAMASCENED STEEL CIRCULAR DHAL with brass border, and four rounded steel bosses, the outer face with gold-damascened scrollwork framing triangular panels of chiselled foliage, the centre embossed with a demon's face, and the border with rounded panels containing silver-damascened Persian verses in nastaliq script; another, the outer face etched with demi-figures, animals, birds and silver-damascened demon's all amid foliage, the border etched with royal titles in tulth script, and with original leather lining; another, the outer face etched with Persepolitan scenes and silver-damascened psudo-kufic script, and with original cloth lining, all 19th Century; an Indian lacquered circular hide dhal painted overall with a design of foliage against a blackened ground, the interior painted with a design of red and green clouds on a gold speckled ground, four pierced bosses and retaining its green velvet pad; and two other Indian lacquered circular hide dhals (both damaged), all 18th/19th Century
