A GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING GUN with octagonal sighted barrel dated 1662 in front of the back-sight, the grooved breech with stamped decoration and initials GB, flat lock dated 1651 and with applied iron wheel-cover and chiselled cock (pan-cover release button missing), fruitwood full stock (fore-stock chipped and repaired) inlaid with staghorn pellets and panels engraved with rosettes, tendrils, foliage and animals, and on the cheek-piece with a bird and the figure of St. George and the Dragon, horn-covered patch-box cover engraved with two birds eating a fish, iron trigger-guard, set trigger, horn butt-plate, and engraved staghorn fore-end cap and ramrod-pipe (ramrod missing), third quarter of the 17th Century
