Lot Essay
This table, with its tapering-herm feet and medallion-centred top within pearled amd flowered bands, reflects the elegant classical style of Thomas Sheraton's, Cabinet-Maker's and Upholsterer's Drawing-Book, 1791-4; and with its unusual drapery-ribbon border relates both to a writing-cabinet sold in these Rooms on 9 July 1992, lot 34, and to another in the Victoria & Albert Museum (290-1876) (see: M. Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam Period Furniture, London, 1982, T/11).
