The entry for the drawing in the Resta-Somers catalogue, Lansdowne Mss., reads 'Vasario disegno e lo dipinse in vaticano e pure non equaglia Geroliminio giorno di M^o Biagio Bolognese da lui deriso'. The attribution to Nebbia was advanced by the late Philip Pouncey
