Senanayake 10c. engraved essay die proofs (4), comprising two stamp-size in deep dark green on olive-green and buff papers, mounted on presentation card marked "AS SUBMITTED 10-1-66" and "Re-proof in colour as per copy supplied see F/i 1682 18.1.68", the other two in myrtle-green on"apple green" paper, one on similar card marked "AS SUBMITTED 26-1.68 (APPLE GREEN PAPER "B")", the other on gummed paper (62x70mm.). A fascinating group.

Note: This stamp was issued in two designs; the first printed by Couvoisier in 1966, the second (this design) in 1968 by Harrison's, neither stamp being engraved. From the above group we assume that Bradbury, Wilkinson submitted the same design in 1966 and 1968, being unsuccessful in securing the contract to print on both occasions.
