A SAFAVID TINNED COPPER BOWL with rounded sides and slightly everted rim, the exterior lightly and finely engraved with a broad band of flowering trees and foliage around a series of pictorial vignettes from well-known stories including Leyla visiting Majnun in the desert and Shirin watching Farhad chipping his way through the mountain, a band above of scrolling vine around elegant nastaliq invocations to the twelve Imams, contemporary owner's inscription cartouche on the underside giving the name 'Safi Quli b. Quli Husayn', early 17th century (slight rubbed, re-tinned)
