by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, period of Elizabeth Petrovna
Urn-shaped, on raised foot, painted with floral sprays, the moulded spout with a ribbon-tied laurel garland holding pink feathers, the angular handle with similar moulded laurel sprays and bud, the spiral fluted domed cover painted with flowers with an overturned urn, apparently unmarked
7 7/8in. (20cm.) high

Lot Essay

This model of a chocolatiere was used during the reign of Catherine the Great, and an example appeared in the famous Orlov Service created in the mid 1760s
