Lot Essay

This is an extremely fine example of the type and in remarkable condition, complete with its braided ends. For a discussion of the group see Petsopoulos. A number of Senneh kilims of this age, though none with the design seen in this mihrab arch, are in the Jenkins Collection, published by Cootner, particularly no.11, p.50, ill. p.53.
