This short documentary follows the photographer during a day's shoot. Arriving at his studio in a white convertible, Steichen prepares to photograph a female dancer. Her only prop is a diaphanous costume which floats and drifts in the stream of air from a large fan. While smoking a cigar, Steichen gives directions to the sitter and to his assistant. The complex tangle of lighting cables provide an opportunity for an unrehearsed moment when Steichen trips and curses before regaining his normal composure. He is later shown editing the day's work and choosing proofs for possible use.

Other films known to have been made by Browning include City of Contrasts about New York, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, U.S. Military Academy, 1940 and Women Photographers, 1941 both in the Library of Congress. Only a few prints of these other films exist and research to date has found no other print of this film. Browning's still photograph estate is now in the collection of the New York Historical Society. The American Society of Cinematographers has no record of his membership.
