2° (450 x 320mm.). 60 lithographic plates, printed by Lefevre & Co. after Mansion and Eschauzier, finely hand-coloured by C.H. Martin and C. Bowen, original pink tissue guards. (Some leaves slightly soiled, mostly marginal, with very occasional foxing.) Contemporary dark blue half morocco gilt with roll-tool leaf borders, spine stamped in gilt and blind in compartments (rubbed, head of spine worn and partially repaired with splits in hinges), front cover with green morocco gilt title-label, g.e. Provenance: R. M. Darnell, Darlington (bookplate).
COMPLETE SET OF 'SPOONER'S UPRIGHT SERIES', each plate with full imprint at foot including the name of the colourist. Most plates are dedicated to the Adjutant General of His Majesty's Forces. VERY RARE IN COMPLETE AND FINE CONDITION. Ogilby Trust Index 888; Colas 1967; not in Lipperheide.
