A terrestrial pocket globe, diameter 2¾ inches (70mm.). 12 hand-coloured engraved gores over a plaster base, title in plain cartouche, the globe showing the tracks of Anson and Cook's second voyage, original light varnish, metal pinions. Contained in original imitation fishskin-covered case, metal clasps, the interior of the case lined with celestial gores, partially hand-coloured and varnished, (case slightly cracked). cf. Van der Krogt Lae 5 and 6, for a description of the later issue of 1833.
This pocket globe is said to have been originally purchased by William Crew, a sub-lieutenant on the Bellorophon, the ship that took Napoleon to his exile in St Helena.
