cover 1867 (Jan.) XU5 to Glasgow, black wax seal of "PRIVY PURSE", bearing 1d. pair (plate 80) each cancelled by the small "stat" h.s. "POR./S.C." (Wilson fig.447, good strikes in black). The address panel is signed by Sir Thomas Biddulph, Keeper of the Privy Purse. Similar "Royal" covers are known, 1867-71, from Queen Victoria and Prince Arthur at Osborne House.
