AN ATTIC WHITE GROUND LEKYTHOS, attributed to the Painter of Munich 2335, circa 440 B.C.

Depicting a woman (upper part and feet only preserved), her brown hair tied in a bun, holding out a plemochoe towards a tall flat-topped stele which is mounted on two steps. A black striped taenia is tied around the stele half way up. To the right stands a man, with fair curly hair, dressed in a red painted himation, looking towards the stele, his right hand dropped languidly

The shoulder is decorated with palmette scrolls, with a band of tongues above and a frieze of meanders below

Condition: repaired and cleaned in modern times; painting faint or missing; the himation outline which would have been in purple is missing
