AN ATTIC WHITE GROUND LEKYTHOS, circa 440-420 B.C.
Two women at a tomb. The woman on the left wears a diaphonous red chiton and carries in her left hand a large flat basket hung with red taeniae which she holds out before the tomb stele. The stele is bedecked with red taeniae, mounted on two steps and surmounted by an acanthus edged in red and draped with red taeniae. The figure on the right wears a chiton and dark red cloak and holds in her left hand a large flat basket hung with red taeniae
The shoulder is decorated with red and black palmette scrolls, with meander pattern below.
Condition: foot, neck and handle repaired; painting flaked and worn in places; head of figure missing
