A TURKISH KILIJ with watered single-edged blade (worn and now browned) cut with a narrow fuller along each side of the back-edge at the point, and with four gold-encrusted panels containing Kufic inscriptions on one side of the forte and a gold-inlaid cursive inscription beyond along the back-edge, the forte inlaid with two gold set emeralds, and the rear end of the point with one, associated symmetrical silver quillon-block chased with floral designs at the centre on each side, and later walrus ivory handle retained by three silver flower-headed rivets on each side, probably 17th Century
