A FINE SAXON BOY'S SPORTING CROSSBOW with slender bow retained by its original cords (string and tassels missing), walnut tiller inlaid with staghorn lines enclosing staghorn panels finely pierced and engraved with foliage inhabited by birds, beasts and serpents, and on the cheek-piece with a perched bird above a townscape, horn bolt-clip (damaged), iron trigger-guard, set trigger, and staghorn butt-plate engraved with the maker's initials IGH (fore-sight, nut and lugs for lever missing), by Johann Gottfried Hänisch of Dresden, circa 1730-40 21in.
