A FLINTLOCK SPORTING RIFLE with rebrowned sighted barrel cut with ten grooves, engraved with rococo ornament at the breech and inscribed 'London' on the top flat, gold vent, engraved tang, flat bevelled lock (a later working replacement) with stepped tail, roller, and rainproof pan, finely figured walnut full stock carved with a shell in relief behind the barrel tang, full brass mounts including solid side-plate, cast and chased rococo escutcheon, and trigger-guard with acorn finial, brass ramrod-pipes, and associated iron ramrod, London and Birmingham proof marks, circa 1775
