A RARE GILT-METAL QUARTER-STRIKING TABLE CLOCK, the elaborate case comprising a double stepped cupola surmounted by a spherical finial and pierced with lotus meander and an arcade, surrounded by a fenced gallery with baluster finials at the corners, the sides with panel doors cast in shallow relief with lotus sprays and four similarly decorated colums at the four corners, the gilt dial cast with scrolling lotus flowers and applied with a brass chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals with pierced blued steel hands, the gilt centre engraved with formal foliage on a pounced ground, the movement comprising two adorsed assemblies, the going train at the back with six pillars with single chain fusee and knife-edge verge escapement with short bob pendulum, the inner striking assembly with six pillars and twin chain fusee, the left with quarter ting-tang strike on a vertical hammer system and the right with hour strike on the same system (minor restoration), Qianlong four-character seal mark, 18th Century
