Extract from letter:
His despatch of the 29th battle is absurd and untrue. He gives all the credit to the 90th - how own Regt. and none to the 13th who did all the fighting - the 90th lost no men until he sent them out of the laager to be slaughtered to increase the butcher's bill. It was a most improper thing to do, and he is much blamed.
Extract from despatch:
Major Leet 1/13 Light Infantry showed the most distinguished courage in helping a dismounted officer at the imminent risk of his own life - I should mention that Major Leet sprained his knee six weeks ago and can walk only with great difficulty.
