Filippo Rega (1761-1833?) was born at Chieti in Italy. In 1787
he received his first official order from the King of the Two-Sicilies to engrave a portrait of his son. Sir William Hamilton commissioned him to engrave a portrait of Lady Hamilton and due to his excellent workmanship it brought him further orders.
