This lot can be dated to circa 1845 due to the ships depicted.

The numerous warships represent the various anchorages in and around the city of Constantinople in the years immediately preceding the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854.

The large warship to the right of the picture would have been built circa 1830, but the presence of the steamships indicate the picture was painted after 1840. It cannot, however, post-date 1850 since the steamships depicted are paddle-steamers, which were soon replaced by screw propeller steamers.
