After his marriage to Marcelle Martinet in February 1923, Marquet and his young wife spent several months in the picturesque town of Sidi-Bon-Saïd. "C'est un souvenir en suspens dans le celentouré et traversé de lumière, raconte Marcelle. Nous deux seuls dans ce pays bleu et blanc, haut perché sur une falaise dominant la mer."
