A RARE BIDJOGO HEADDRESS, carved as the head of a hippopotamus, with applied brass panels down the centre of the long slender nose and about the broad snout, a lozenge on the small head, further bands and discs on the triangular cheeks, two horizontal hide strips retaining fur above applied bar cut with two eye holes, the whole painted dark red with black, white and blue features, minor damages about the border, probably 19th century
