SAINT JUSTINA AND ANOTHER FEMALE MARTYR. Historiated initial 'D' cut from an ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT CHOIRBOOK ON VELLUM
[Lombardy, circle of Frate Nebridio, last quarter of the 15th century]
128 x 170 mm. The saints are depicted, one holding a sword, the other a book and a martyr's palm on blue ground. The letter is purple, with white patterned tracery and leafy extensions on gold ground. Two lines of music on 4 red-ruled staves on verso.

A pencil note on verso states 'From the Cathedral of Como'.
