Greek type 1:146 (text), roman types 2:114 (title) and 6:83 (letter, colophon, contents). 30 lines. 38 woodcut floral or interlaced headpieces printed from 8 blocks, 40 woodcut Greek initials (20 blocks) including capital E, which reappears in the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili of 1499 (see lot 83), and one printed upside down. 18th-century English mottled calf, the sides panelled in gilt and blind, the centre panel plain calf, floral tool at the corners, spine gilt in compartments, red and blue stained edges, marbled endpapers. Provenance: Ravenna, Carthusians (17th-century inscription); 4th Duke of Grafton (inscription dated 1782); S. Hayes, bought in the Grafton sale at Evans on 6 June 1815 for 10 (pencil inscription); Beriah Botfield.
