Original blue paper wrappers with upper cover from a design by Browne, uncut, parts VIII and XI unopened (14 parts neatly rebacked or strengthened using original paper), later green cloth over boards chemise and dark blue morocco box. Provenance: COMTE ALAIN DE SUZANNET (bookplate on chemise, sale Sotheby's 22 November 1971, part of lot 44).
A fine clean set of the FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. This lot also includes 74 other original monthly parts (as in the Suzannet sale, part of lot 44), including 55 duplicates and showing various states of text, advertisements and illustration, comprising 2 copies of parts I and IV; 3 copies of parts III, VI, X, XI and XIV; 4 copies of parts II, V, VII, XIII, XVIII and XIX/XX; 5 copies of parts VIII, IX, XII, XV, XVI and XVII. All within four green cloth over boards chemises and slipcases. (93)
