DICKENS, Charles. Autograph letter signed to Mrs. Buckland, Folkestone, 11 June 1853, a belated reply to her 'interesting and welcome note' confessing 'I have been idle for nearly a fortnight', and informing her that he has commended the subject of her letter to a gentleman associated with Household Words, 2 pages, 8°.
Mrs. Buckland's husband, Dr. William Buckland, was Dean of Westminster. She had probably written to Dickens about the Industrial School for Street Boys in the parish of St. Matthew, which the Reverend Malone, to whom Dickens refers, supervised with the Bucklands' support. 'I assure you it will be real gratification to me if I can at all advance his excellent design'.
