NAPOLEON I. Unpublished letter signed ('Np') to the Duke of Feltre, Fisnes, 5 March 1814, announcing the arrival of the Polish cavalry, 'Les 600 polonais de Gal Paç viennent d'arriver; ils sont superbes', one page, 4°, contemporary annotation attached to lower margin.

A fine letter on the timely arrival of the Poles at Maizy, instructing Feltre urgently to equip and despatch them, also 1200 Polish Cossacks, and to send a company of horse artillery, 'elle sera attachée au polonais, et tous ces polonais seront attachés à ma Garde'.

General Louis-Michel Paç (1780-1835), descendant of a distinguished Polish family, served in almost all the Imperial campaigns, and finally as a Divisional General on Napoleon's staff.
