The case typically with simple moulded base, glazed sides, later sound fret to the front door, typical gilt-metal D-ended and foliate-tied handle to the cushion-moulded top, square dial signed Joseph Knibb, London beneath the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued hands (later hour hand) the matted centre with calendar aperture, latches to the dial feet and to the five vase-shaped pillars, twin fusees (wirelines) re-built verge escapement, calibrated small countwheel strike on later bell, the backplate typically engraved with tulips amongst scolling foliage and engraved within a cartouche Joseph Knibb, Londini Fecit; the movement secured to the case via two turns-screws to the reverse of the dial.
