A SÈVRES TWO-HANDLED ÉCUELLE, COVER AND STAND (écuelle 'ronde tournée' et plateau 'rond') painted with alternate garlands of pink roses and berried laurel enclosing gilt-seeded ovals with blue and brown flowerheads with gilt centres within looped finely chased gilt lines, the central line suspending blue cornflower petals, the rim with a light-blue fond taillandier within double gilt lines, the entwined branch handles and brown branch finial enriched with gilding (slight loss to gilding on berries of finial, very minor rubbing to gilt rim on cover), blue interlaced L marks to stand enclosing date letter r for 1770, painter's mark S for Méreau, incised da and DU to écuelle and LP to stand
