MOSCHOPOULOS, Manuel (fl. ca.1300). Erotemata grammatika and Peri schedon. - Theodorus PRODROMOS (12th century; attrib.). Peri pneumaton and Peri antistoichon. In Greek. Manuscript on paper.

[Eastern Mediterranean, ca.1500]
197 x 147mm. 152ff, 30 lines, mostly single column, in brown and red ink in a fine minuscule hand, the paper probably Italian, in 19th-century marbled-paper-covered boards (lacking 2 or 3 leaves at beginning, corners of 3 leaves torn with loss of text, extensive wormholing at head and upper outer margins of most leaves, not affecting text, partial browning throughout).

AN UNRECORDED MANUSCRIPT OF MOSCHOPOULOS'S GRAMMATICAL TEXTS, with two other works attributed to Theodorus Prodromos. The contents are as follows: Moschopoulos Erotemata (ff [1]-[57], beginning '...tessara. a, i, upsilon, o mega. diati legontai ametabola.'); Prodromos Peri pneumaton (ff [57]-[61v]); id. Peri antistoichon (ff [61v]-[64v]); Moschopoulos Peri schedon (ff [66]-[152v]). The Erotemata, written in question-and-answer form, is the chief work of the Byzantine commentator and grammarian Manuel Moschopoulos. Along with other works, such as the Peri schedon ('On riddles') it exerted great influence on later writers such as Manuel Chrysoloras and Constantine Lascaris.
