Sir Roger Gresley Bart. (1799-1837), a Conservative in favour of paper currency, properly secured, or at all events of an enlarged circulation of silver coin. He unsuccessfully contested Lichfield in 1826, Newark in 1831 and Derbyshire South in 1832. He sat for Durham in the Parliament of 1830, for New Romney in that of 1831 and was elected for Derbyshire South in 1835. He retired in 1837
