A WILLIAM IV MAHOGNAY EXTENDING DINING-TABLE attributed to Miles and Edwards with moulded D-shaped ends and ten leaves, on turned legs carved with lotus leaves
263½in. (669cm.) long, including ten leaves; 28¼in. (72cm.) high
Provenance
The Marquess of Londonderry, Wynyard Park, Co. Durham

Not satisfied with the house he acquired in 1819, the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry embarked on building a new house at Wynyard at a cost of (130,000 (Philip Wyatt 1822-1830). In 1841, the interior was destroyed by fire but, unperturbed at his lack of insurance, he restored it using the architects Ignatius Bonomi and J. A. Cory between 1842 and 1844 (see: G. Worsley, 'Wynyard Park, County Durham, I and II', Country Life, 1986, pp. 614-617 and 664-669)

The London firm of Miles and Edwards were commissioned to furnish the house between 1829 and 1841, (see: Dictionary of English Furniture-Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, p. 606)
