According to Mr. Willem van de Watering, the present picture would seem to be the finest of three known versions of the composition by Angillis. One was sold in these Rooms 12 Dec. 1975, lot 171, as François van Aken, and the other at Sotheby's, 11 July 1979, lot 22, as Pieter Angillis.
