inscribed 'Sewing on a button./I like to celebrate all lovable acts. All ordinary acts/such as this of Daphne sewing a button on my waistcoat/are religious things & a part of perfection. While at/Leonard Stanley I found what meaning I could as I/always do wherever I am & here revealed several/of the aspects of love & perfection of this simple order./On the mantlepiece are christmas cards. The room is/an imaginary room I dont know where.' (on the reverse)
